LENEXA – Ann Parr, aged 81, passed away on December 24, 2024, in Lenexa, Kansas. Born on August 3, 1943, Ann lived a life marked by dedication to her community. Ann’s early education took place in Morganville and Clay Center, Kansas, before she attended Emporia State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas.
Her professional life was rich and varied; alongside her husband, Jack Parr, she developed customer service training programs for three decades. In her later years, Ann found a new passion as an author, writing young adult and biographical nonfiction that touched many lives.
A woman of deep faith, Ann was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Salina, KS, and later at the Second Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO. Her commitment to her faith and community was evident in all she did.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Cynda Zurfluh and Robyn Zurfluh, and her brother, Bill Oetinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Parr, and her sisters, Lennea Nickel and Rosie Simmons.
A celebration of life will be held on January 11, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Silvercrest College View Senior Living in Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the United Way Salina, an organization that was close to Ann’s heart. Ann’s legacy of community involvement and her spirit of generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
