Friends baseball beats Swedes 12-0, 25-15

Judging by the score, it would appear to many that a football game broke out in the middle of spring in Bethany College’s 25-15 loss to Friends on Saturday, but instead the game took place on a baseball diamond as the Swedes dropped the series and fell to 10-14 on the year. After a 1-4 start to the season, the Bethany College baseball team ripped off six wins in their next seven games, including a series split against Huston-Tillotson, a series sweep over Waldorf, and a series sweep over Sterling.

Democrat breaks with party, amends fetal child support bill

TOPEKA — Republican legislation to establish child support payments for pregnancy-related costs — and, in turn, establish “fetal personhood” — revealed tension among legislators as one Democratic senator inserted a bipartisan tax credit provision. Senate Democrats agreed that House Bill 2062, which requires courts to consider fetuses when determining child support judgments, risked providing legal precedent for treating fetuses as people.

Closing a season

My husband, Jeff, and I did our best to take advantage of unique Scandinavian opportunities during our final weeks abroad. Since it was winter, that naturally meant skiing! We managed to watch two World Cup events and ski the 56-mile-long Vasaloppet race.
