New superintendent: a wish list
People at a series of seven gatherings Tuesday discussed the traits they want in a new school superintendent.

Coloradan at Red Barn
Dave Reiter, a landscape painter from Parker, Colo., will be the artist in residence at the Red Barn Studio Museum from Saturday to March 29. He will focus on preparing for a two-person show in November at the Carriage Factory Gallery in Newton.
Sidewalks in Swensson
The Lindsborg City Council on Monday approved a $10,730 bid to build 278 feet of sidewalk that will connect features of Swensson Park for easier access by wheelchair or with a stroller, especially when the ground is wet.

Women's basketball out of playoffs
The Bethany College women's basketball team was eliminated in the first round of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference on Feb. 27, losing 60-47 to Tabor College in Hillsboro.
Men's tennis team wins, women lose
Bethany College's tennis teams opened their season at home against John Brown University, with the women losing 1-6 and the men winning 5-2. The Swedes were unable to get a match in women's doubles, ceding to the visitors.

Bethany College picks new president
Fifteen months after Bethany College’s last president resigned on short notice, and two weeks after three finalists aiming to be the school’s next leader visited with community members, the Board of Trustees picked Laura Crawley, who last year left another Lutheran college to be a consultant and who has more than two decades of experience at public and private colleges, all in the South. She will start on May 1.
Bethany softball is on 8-0 run
The Bethany College softball team won eight games in a row, sweeping their play at two tournaments in one week and scoring in double digits three times.
