Jessica Patterson’s grandfather served in the Navy during World War 2. Starting when she was about 10, he would take her to Elmwood Cemetery, where at least scores of veterans were buried, on Memorial Day.

Newspaper will become more like a magazine

CherryRoad Media publisher Jeremy Gulban visited the McPherson Sentinel on May 13 and said the News-Record is among CherryRoad newspapers that will go from being printed as a broadsheet on newsprint to digital production on brighter paper the size of a magazine. Photo reproduction, especially color, will be superior, but the projected 12 pages in the new format will have about two-thirds of the space provided by eight pages of the current broadsheet – which three years ago was more than 10 percent wider than it is now.
