State allots $800,000 to K-4 fix
The Kansas Department of Transportation has budgeted $800,000 to patch Highway 4 – Harrison Street – between Swensson and Lincoln. The first half of the money is to come in the state’s 2027 fiscal year, which means after July 1, 2026, and the second half in fiscal year 2028.
Be open enough about secret meetings
Because Kansas law recognizes that “a representative government is dependent upon an informed electorate,” the meetings of local governments, such as county and city commissions, are “open to the public.”

High rain for July, normal for the year
Rainfall at the National Weather Service reporting station 3 miles east of Lindsborg was 6.95 inches in July, well above the normal 4.31. The service said that ample rain for the past few months has brought 86 percent of the state to drought-free status, the most since June 2021.
