The fellowship hall at Trinity United Methodist Church was an art auction house Saturday, with 180 works on the walls and tables, each paraded in turn before buyers in person and online. The highest bid was $5,500, for a Lester Raymer painting of women called “The Three Graces.” But many of the original pieces were had for less than $100, including a ceramic jar by David Long and serigraph of a Southwest church, artist unknown, each for $30.

Man accused of felony domestic battery, resisting arrest

A Bethany College student faces felony complaints of aggravated domestic battery and interfering with a law officer. District Court records allege that Jase Dion Williams, from Conroe, Texas, impeded breathing or circulation by pressing on the throat, neck, or chest of Kiara Nicole Matthew, with whom Williams is or was involved in a dating relationship or as a family member.
