Rehearsals set for Messiah choir

Bethany College announced the first details of next year’s Messiah Festival for the Arts, which will mark the 144th consecutive performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” the longest-running rendition of this work in North America. Handel’s “Messiah” will be performed in Presser Hall on April 13.

Duane Schrag – journalist, science fiend, photographer, craftsman and traveler – died Oct. 17 in Abilene, where he had been in hospice care less than a week. The cause was metastatic pancreatic cancer. He was 69.

Report: Children remain too inactive

The Physical Activity Alliance, the nation’s largest national coalition dedicated to advancing regular participation in physical activity, said the overall physical activity grade for children this year was D-, the same as in 2022 when the last such report was issued. Bethany Forseth, a researcher at the University of Kansas Medical Center, led the fitness section of the report card.
