President Trump’s tariffs could make things tough for some Lindsborg businesses, but what they mostly suffer now is uncertainty. This is partly because of the delay in effect, partly because of where imported goods happen to be in transit when a tariff is imposed, and partly because of how Trump has gone back and forth so much on so many possible tariffs.
Gallant’s lawyer needs more time before trial The trial of Emile Gallant on federal drug and gun charges was delayed for a second time so his public defender can go over prosecution evidence that has been added to twice since the first delay, in March. Gallant is now scheduled for trial on July 29 in Wichita.
“I have Swedish muscles around my mouth,” Gretchen Esping said. “Because you use your lips in a different way.” She spoke of how to pronounce the Swedish letter Å, which doesn’t sound like an American A, but more like a long O.
A handful of people began a “No Kings” protest of President Trump and his administration Saturday in Lindsborg and saw their numbers briefly swell to two dozen. They drew derision but mostly praise.

Most of the people who work in Lindsborg don’t live in Lindsborg, according to a study paid for by most of McPherson County’s municipalities, and the director of the housing organization that coordinated support for the study says that the county as a whole needs more homes to make the communities better.
The front-page story about housing in McPherson County presents an argument for more homes to serve workers of industries that want to grow, and the claim that without growth a community will wither. I won’t say that more homes aren’t needed in this county.
