One summer in the early 1970s, a young college student volunteered to serve in a summer youth program in the ghetto of a large city in Ohio. Needless to say, coming from a small town he had a lot to learn – don’t go out alone after dark, even to walk one block! The heat and humidity were brutal, but he survived and had many stories to tell.

Over the summer, folks across the Lindsborg community have been gathering at Messiah Lutheran Church to read Amanda Tyler’s “How to End Christian Nationalism.” This teaching and preaching series has invited us, in various ways, to wrestle with what belongs to God and what belongs to empire. In very practical and challenging ways, facing Christian Nationalism asks us to grow up in truth and love.
